Programs

Vallecitos School has a variety of programs designed to enrich and support student learning. We take great pride in meeting the individual needs of every student.

Intervention: Students who are experiencing academic difficulties may be referred to intervention. Intervention is designed to give students extra support in a small-group setting. Instruction is given by a trained teacher who will focus on developing students skills.

Specialized Academic Instruction: Students who have been formally identified as having a designated learning disability are provided with Specialized Academic Instruction within their classroom. This instruction is provided by a special education teacher and/or an instructional aide. Working together, parents, teachers, and other appropriate personnel develop, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to target each qualifying student's identified needs.

Speech: Students may be referred for a speech screening by teachers, parents, or administrators.

Student Council: The student council at Vallecitos plans spirit days, runs the student store, and is involved in other social and service activities.

School Site Council: The School Site Council is an elected group of parents, teachers, and staff who serve as an advisory group to the principal. The primary function of this group is to provide information and advice on the Single Plan for Student Achievement, as well as review budgetary information. This committee does not deal with fundraising or other areas covered by the PTO.
